The James Eaglestone Tribute Fund
James Eaglestone, aged 23, passed away peacefully on June 12th 2007 following a seven month battle with a brain tumour.
James was born in Australia on 1st August 1983, and moved to Wales when he was 9 years old. James liked living in the countryside and he learnt to speak Welsh in school. After leaving school, he went to college and started working at Tesco part-time. Eventually, the part-time job turned into a full-time job at the bakery in Tesco. That is how I met James - you could say we met over the loaves! James enjoyed his job as a baker, in particular the people he worked with.

James was truly a wonderful person, he really was. When you are young you dream of falling in love with "prince charming", well I lived the dream even though it was for a short time. James was a happy, bubbly, fun person who lived for the moment; he didn't take life too seriously. He was loving, thoughtful and really cared about other people. When he was diagnosed he did not wallow in self pity, he was more worried about how it would affect his family and friends. His courage and fortitude was just amazing, and he will be remembered for his bravery, beautiful smile and the joy he brought to so many people. He is an inspiration to us all. We were given the opportunity by the Willow Trust Foundation to spend a weekend in Centre Parcs at Sherwood Forest. This was a special time for us which I will always remember and cherish.
James would want me to mention how much he loved pizza (Hawaiian), pancakes and ice cream, and how he hated mushrooms. He loved listening to music, watching films at the cinema, and playing his computer games. James was a gifted artist, who enjoyed sketching in particular and creating cartoons. He will be remembered and deeply missed by his family all who knew him, and will never be forgotten.
I read a poem at his funeral and will finish this by quoting it here:

I have set up this tribute fund in loving memory of James. In today's world, with advanced technology and scientific research, brain tumours still remain a rare form of cancer with a significantly poor prognosis. This is not acceptable! Your donations will take us one step closer to helping defeat this dreadful and devastating disease. The Clatterbridge Cancer Research Trust supports both treatment of brain cancers, and an advanced research project into brain tumours in the J K Douglas Laboratories.
All donations given in James' memory will used specifically to help fund the research into brain cancer taking place in the J.K.Douglas Laboratories.
